We spent Golden Week holidays of 2019 in Indonesia, traveling between Bali, Nusa Penida, the Gilis and Lombok. Each island offers different kind of vibe and activities and we honestly couldn’t pick our favorite. Nusa Penida mesmerized us with it’s cliffs, it is still a bit underdeveloped so the roads and accommodations were not the best. The Gilis were super touristy, which is great as far as food choices and accommodation goes and less great if you’re not into sharing the waters with crowds of people. We did the discovery dive while staying on Gili Trawangan and got addicted to it… For Lombok we planned on staying put in one spot for an entire week (a lot for us, we prefer to move areound) to practice surfing but after discovering how great diving is we changed our mind and decided to do the diving certificate. It was the greatest decision since Lombok is not touristy at all so we got to learn diving in a completely empty bay + got the pink beach to ourselves. The town of Kuta also offers great food and nightlife so we could really used to staying there if it wasn’t for me getting horrible ‘Bali belly’ and spending a couple of days in
bed toilet. From there we returned to Bali and enjoyed a couple more days of relaxed island vibes.
Writing this really made me realize how the world has changed since then and i really hope we can soon travel again!
